Alexi walked into his least favorite class, history. The class became insufferable since the dreams started and he realized how little of their history they really knew. Making the history of Nebu a total bore. It didn’t help the Professor was the dullest one in all of Oblako. Professor Veltov stood at the front of the room with his back to the class tapping on the chalkboard writing out the lesson plan for the day. Alexi groaned.

It appeared that they were going to go over the oldest recorded history that they had. As far as the history was concerned in the school, the Warden was a myth or a legend and not a real person. Veltov dismissed the students every time they tried to ask about the Warden. He was adamant, at least as adamant as he could be, about the Warden being nothing more than a fairytale spread to bring hope. He felt that the prophecy that was going around is nothing but another attempt at making the students feel safer than they were.

The student stopped after he threatened to give more tests if they continued to ask and that was enough to even keep the most vocal of them down. Alexi had thought about approaching him when it first happened but was glad he hadn’t.

Zoya sat next to him. She looked up at the board and saw the plan for the day and groaned. She leaned into Alexi and whispered, “This is going to be fun."

She had been desperately trying to research the dreams spending as much time at the library she could. It held little in books that would help with the research. The next free day off campus was coming up with a plan to revisit the bookstore that had started all this.

Thinking about the bookstore brought Vitaly up to the forefront of Alexi’s mind. They had gone there on a special occasion because Vitaly’s brother was killed in the war and the headmaster wanted to help Vitaly get over it. A trip off was always something students enjoyed during the school year. An unscheduled trip made it more exciting.

“We will be covering for the next several lessons the first years of Nebu,” Professor Veltov said. His monotone voice instantly caused Alexi to yawn. Alexi merely turned him out and drifted to the potential trip back to the bookstore. The first time he’d been there, he was in complete awe of the place.

There was so much to take in that Alexi couldn’t even remember it all. That day he mostly remembered the casket in the case and the two books shimmering on the shelves singing to him. He was able to get one of them since the shopkeeper had been so kind. The goal was to get the other if it was still at the shop.
